ECOVERSE
Climate-Resilient Rural Communities
A pioneering model for community-led, integrated rural resilience, designed to scale across sub-Saharan Africa.
ECOVERSE ("Ecological Universe for Vulnerable people Resilience") is a flagship programme of the Africa Adaptation Initiative, implemented by SSA.
ECOVERSE aims to drive adaptation to climate change across rural Africa, by pioneering an integrated, community-led model that combines climate-smart housing and social infrastructure, resilient agricultural value chains, rural enterprise incubation and financial inclusion into an ECOVERSE village hub.
The prototype ECOVERSE village is being built in Zogbépimé, Togo. It is designed to serve as a scalable blueprint for creating similar hubs across sub-Saharan Africa.
Sub-initiatives
- 1ECOVERSE Village – Climate-resilient housing and social infrastructure
- 2ECOVERSE Agriculture – Climate-smart value chains and agro-processing
- 3ECOVERSE Incubator – Growing youth- and community-led climate enterprises
