Adaptation Project Incubator for Africa

The Adaptation Project Incubator for Africa ("APIA") is a flagship programme of the Africa Adaptation Initiative, implemented by SSA.

APIA is a dedicated adaptation project preparation facility for Africa, geared at transforming adaptation concepts into investment-ready proposals.

APIA provides climate diagnostics, climate-risk informed-financial modelling, financial structuring and proposal development support to implementing institutions across Africa to build project proposals aligned with international climate finance standards.

Through this work, APIA is geared toward delivering both strong investable project pipelines, as well as embedded institutional capacity to mobilise and execute climate finance for Africa.

As of 2026, SSA has partnered with over 30 institutions including numerous African Direct Access Entities to mature project pipelines valued at over USD 1 billion.
