Adaptation Finance Academy

The Adaptation Finance Academy ("AFA") is a flagship programme of the Africa Adaptation Initiative, implemented by SSA.

Designed as Africa's first dedicated academy for professional training in climate finance, AFA helps talented professionals grow into the next generation of African climate finance leaders, addressing the critical need to invest in practitioner skills and expertise across the continent.

AFA provides bilingual (English-French) training in designing, structuring and managing climate investments, through a combination of structured and applied learning.

AFA launched in 2024 through a first cohort of the Young Professionals Programme, a 12-month immersive programme for exceptional African graduates and early career professionals hosted at SSA.

AFA is expanding to offer a full climate finance curriculum, executive training, clinics, peer exchange workshops, and learning and research fellowships, virtually and physically at its campus, co-located with the ECOVERSE Village in Togo.
